Lifesize Terra Cotta Xian Warrior in Archer Pose from China
This is lifesize replica of replica of a Xian terracotta warrior made in the China near the archaeological site by local artists. Export of an original one is punishable by death thus this is close as one can get for a reproduction. The sought after Archer pose rarely comes with the bow still intact as this one has. The faces of the reproductions are all different as they are modeled after different individuals just as the originals were. Also the head is a separate piece just as the originals.
The Terracotta army, aka Terracotta warriors and horses, are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. Work is ongoing at this site, which is around 1.5 kilometers east of Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum in Lintong, Xian, Shaanxi Province. It is a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China. The site is so large current estimates is that it will take centuries to complete the excavation.
